Message
from the Director: |
|
Today is Saturday, May 29, 2010.
I am currently in my empty office for the last time to
express my thoughts and feelings to each of you who has been a part of the
Booth Scholars Program in some way during the past ten years.
Maybe you gave an encouraging word, attended a meeting and
listened while I gave a presentation, gave up your classroom for our
meetings, delivered messages, took time to make me feel welcome at
your facility, or made sure that your child fully participated in the
program. In whatever way you touched our program, it was because of
you that a difference has been made for 200 of Wayne County's best and
brightest.
I wish to thank each and every one of you from the bottom
of my heart. I know that not every decision made by me has been popular, but
please know that I always had the best interests of my Scholars in mind.
Mine and Mr. Booth's goals were the same. We wanted to expand the
education of the students of Wayne County in such a way that would prepare
them for a lifetime of learning that would better enable them to meet the
challenges they would face in the future.
It has been my pleasure and honor to have had each of you
in my life for ten wonderful years. I know that my life has definitely
been impacted for the better by being in the "Booth Family"
A lot of you have asked me about my plans. I will be
moving to Florida in July to retire. I have two of my three children
living there and two grandchildren, whom no doubt, will keep "Nanny" quite
busy. I will travel back here very often to visit the younger two
groups of Scholars in September and October. I will be hosting their
trip to Spain in November. I will also welcome a new grandchild
expected in November by my youngest son and daughter-in-law, who will
continue to live here. (for awhile). Beyond that, I have no definite plans
except to continue to stay in touch with my Scholars and help them in any
way that they might need. I might also teach a few days a month just
to stay in touch with what's happening in the educational world.
I plan to create a web site after I move to allow me to
post news about the Spain trip, meetings, etc. I will send out letters
late summer to let each of you current Scholars the address.
This will be my last message on this web site. Once
I disconnect today, I will no longer have access to the Marshall server.
I hope that in the future when you remember the Booth
Scholars Program, it will be with a smile for all of the positive things
that were achieved and the lives that were changed for the better.
Sincerely,
Brenda S. Napier |
