I highly recommend that every Marshall student take advantage of the professional staff and resources at Marshall University Career Services Center. During my undergrad, Career Services helped me get an interview, which led to an internship. The internship has ultimately helped me jump start my professional business career and prepare for life after college. Career Services has made a huge impact on my life."

"I wanted to take this opportunity to thank Career Services for helping me back in 2008. You all took time to prepare me for my interviews, develop my resume along with other key factors that helped me find my job. I spent over five years at my first position and the experience I learned there has helped me land at the company I'm with today. I'm now in a business development role with a growing company and I am grateful for the help from Career Services that got me started on this career path."
-Mark “Kipper” Hesson, MU Class of 2008
"Mirek and the entire Career Service team was my dream team in helping find me a degree relevant job. Had I not worked with them each week, I would not have gotten the Discharge Planning position. They helped polish my accomplishments and efforts into a competitive resume. The bottom line: If you are willing and wanting to work, these guys will work for you and produce results."
"I have a job, thanks to the help from Denise Hogsett at Career Services. She helped me prepare for employment opportunities which resulted in me landing a full time job with Frito-Lay/PepsiCo as a Sales District Leader. Joining Career Champions was how I first met Denise. She was welcoming and interested to help from the beginning. She helped me assess what I wanted to do, with my resume development and revision assistance and assisted me with looking for internships through JobTrax. She helped me with everything from how to approach situations, what to wear, proper manners, and preformed mock interviews. It was Denise that provided the opportunity to meet the PepsiCo rep that resulted in me getting a job. She encouraged me to follow-up and to send him an email with my resume. When I was called for an interview, I was prepared and that made me calm and confident to do well. And I nailed the interview! Honestly, I can say it was Denise’s expertise that enabled me to come out of college with an awesome career! Her positivity, enthusiasm, and patience made the process a great experience. I can’t thank her enough. I would highly recommend for every student to explore the Career Services at Marshall. "
"It's important for students to prepare for their careers, even as freshmen. I asked Career Services to talk to my sophomore class. They went above and beyond my expectations. They suggested helpful activities that they could include, despite the extra work it would cause their staff. They helped students create and polish resumes, provided the opportunity for them to practice interviewing, and helped them develop personal statements. They provided feedback to each student and worked with the class to help them understand self-marketing expectations and parameters. They made my job much, much easier, for which I am very appreciative.

A few weeks later, I interviewed over the phone, which I had also practiced with Career Services. I received a call towards the end of the semester and won the position for the summer internship. Thanks for all your help!

"The career center at Marshall has been such a resourceful place that I would not have known about if it wasn't for Career Champions. I now feel comfortable and confident as I continue to look for employment opportunities."

After talking to their career counselors about my situation, they looked over my various resumes and cover letters and pinpointed small nuances that made a big difference in want I thought were already well-developed documents. But more importantly, they helped identify the people and networks available to me that could further my understanding of hiring practices."
