Dietetics Research Guide

This online guide is developed specifically for those doing research in Dietetics. It provides a recommended list of resources, which encompasses print materials, electronic databases, and selected Internet resources.

It lists only resources that deal primarily with dietetics, nutrition, and health-related material.

Because dietetics involves many disciplines such as biology, health, food chemistry, and psychology, you may need to consult resources in those fields also.

For more extensive research help, contact Paris Webb at 696-3511.

Journal & Magazine Articles

The online databases and print indices listed below will provide references to articles, (or in some cases full-text articles), in a wide range of periodicals--from news magazines and newspapers to scholarly and professional journals. If you have questions about choosing or using a database or index, please consult a librarian.

Paper Indexes

Full-Text Databases

Indexes & Bibliographic Databases

These databases and print indices primarily provide citation information, (i.e. author, article title, periodical name, volume & issue, date), for articles, essays, book chapters, dissertations, and other materials.  Abstracts are usually included.  While these particular databases are not full-text, you may find many of the sources are available in the MU Libraries.  You can find out if Marshall owns these by searching MU Journals for journal titles or MILES, the libraries online catalog, for book titles.  If an item is not owned by MU Libraries, you can request it from another library by using our Information Delivery Services (IDS).

Selected Periodicals

Print & Online

The list below is only a partial list of Dietetics/Nutrition periodicals available in print or online at MU Libraries.

For more information, visit our Journals Search page.  There, you can browse our titles A-Z; browse by subject when you select a subject category; or find a specific periodical by doing a title or issn search.  The Journals Search database will give you detailed information for all our journals, magazines, and newspapers.  It will indicate if the periodical is available online, in print, or in microfilm, and will state the years of coverage for each format.  Whenever possible Journals Search provides a direct link to journal content; however, some vendors do not provide links to individual titles in their databases.  In these rare cases, you will need to search for the title at their database site.

Try Journals Search:  To search for a particular periodical, go to Journals Search, enter the desired title, and click the search button.
