November 14, 1970 ... Remembered

Herbert Benjamin “Deke” Brackett died in the plane crash. He had driven to the game with Red Dawson, who were
to continue on recruiting trip after the game. Brackett asked Coach Gail Parker, who had flown, to switch places with him.
The two men switched places; the trade cost Brackett his life.
