Virtual Museum
There are two new exhibits in the Virtual Museum. One is an exhibit devoted to Camp Washington Carver, the first 4-H camp for African American youth in the United States. It utilized all full range of media, including still images, moving images, and audio files. The second exhibit present a visual history of the 1937 flood and its affects on Huntington, West Virginia. Its use of still and moving images, many made public for the first time, depict the devastation of the flood on the city.
Digital Collections
Special Collections web page has a new feature, called Digital Collections. This page will be devoted to making available digitized collections of manuscript and other materials. Presently, it contains links to Dr. Robert Alexander's excellent work on the Cass Railroad and the Fowler Papers, which deal with the state's timber industry. There is a page devoted to an index of obituaries for the decade of 1992 to 2002 makes it much easier to locate obituaries in local newspapers. Finally, the Wilbur E. Myers glass collection, housed in the John D. Drinko Library, is presented through a digital catalog of the magnificent glass pieces in this outstand collection.
Marshall linked by the Smithsonian Institution

Progress on moving department
Work is progression on moving Special Collections to the second floor of the Morrow Library. Hopefully this will be accomplished by the end of the summer. We will continue to keep you up-dated.
Publication
Blake Library Bibliographer, Jack Dickinson, has published If I Should Fall in Battle through the John D. Drinko Academy at the University. The book contains the civil war diary of James P. Stevens, a private in the 7th Alabama Infantry, and is part of the Rosanna Blake Library. The dairy covers twelve months, from March 1861 to March 1862, when Stephan was stationed at Pensacola, Florida. Stevens was later killed at the Battle of Chickamauga. The book has photographs of each page of the diary, as well as an annotated transcription. Enriched with original research on the Stevens Family, it also has numerous photographs, and is indexed.
