Please note that as of Fall, 2003, the Psychology department has reorganized our MA program. We are now offering a single MA degree in Psychology, with a common set of admission criteria, a common core of courses and graduation requirements. As a distinct part of that program, students who are fully admitted may elect to work within an area of emphasis in Clinical Psychology. Although we no longer offer a distinct MA program in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, a variety of courses research and field training experiences in the Industrial Organizational area are still available for interested students. All MA students who complete their programs of study will graduate with the same degree- an MA in Psychology; those who complete the clinical sequence will also have the area of emphasis in clinical noted on their transcripts.

For more detailed information on the MA program click here.  You may call (304) 746-1932 for additional information. Graduate application materials are available through the Graduate Admissions office.

The primary objective of this program is to prepare doctoral-level professional psychologists to develop, provide, supervise and evaluate high quality mental health services for citizens of the state of West Virginia. Through coursework, extensive field training and research experience, our goal is to prepare highly skilled generalists in professional psychology who are sensitive to the psychological and health-related issues confronting this area and are prepared to serve the communities in this region. The program will lead to the Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree; this degree is recognized nationwide as reflecting a program with a primarily applied, professional focus. Graduates typically work in applied, service-oriented positions where they work directly with clients, as well as supervise and train other professionals.  All prospective students should be aware that successful progress through the program will require a major commitment, including enrollment for coursework during each summer of their time in the program; also, please note the description of Residency Requirements.

For more detailed information on the Psy.D. Program, click here or call (304) 696-2785.

The Ed. S. program in School Psychology is housed in the Graduate School of Education, not the Psychology Department. Please click here for information.
