Director of Financial Aid (July 26, 2007)

Qualifications:  Bachelors Degree, Master’s Degree preferred

The successful candidate will have at least five years of professional work experience in financial aid administration with progressively increasing responsibilities. Candidates must be able to provide evidence of ability to supervise financial aid personnel, oversee strategic planning for the office, have an extensive and well documented knowledge of federal and state laws and polices related to financial aid administration, and the ability to interpret and ensure compliance with regulations. Strong interpersonal and networking skills and effective analytical and problem-solving skills are expected together with articulate communication and presentation skills. Also, a demonstrated working knowledge of the following is required:

---the use of integrated student aid software, SCT Banner preferred

---NCAA Division I rules and regulations related to financial aid administration

---innovative student centered customer services, including problem-solving and quality improvement

---effective use of electronic student services to deliver financial aid

---working collaboratively with other departments to deliver quality services to students

---oversee the coordination and development of financial aid publications and the office web page

---prepare detailed reports for federal or state agencies and institutional staff

Responsibilities: The Director of Student Financial Assistance reports to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and is directly responsible for ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and Institutional rules and regulations. This position provides the overall management and leadership necessary for the effective administration of the Marshall University, including graduate and medical school programs, as well as the independently accredited and Title IV funded Marshall Community and Technical College’s student financial aid programs.
