Instructions for completing Admissions form

Please complete the application for admission according to the instructions given below.

Type of Student: Mark only one of the following categories on the application.

-Freshman: a first-time freshman or a student who has earned less than 26 college credit hours while attending high school.
 
-Transient: a student planning to transfer credits from Marshall to another college while seeking a degree from that school.
 
-Transfer: a student transferring credit from another institution while seeking a degree at Marshall.
 
-Special: a student who has already earned a bachelor's degree, but is taking undergraduate classes and is not working on a degree.
 
-Superior & Talented: a student who has not yet graduated from high school, but qualifies to take college classes.
 
-Superior & Talented CTC: a student who has not yet graduated from high school, but qualifies to take Community and Technical College classes.
 
-Nondegree: a student taking classes for credit, but not working on a degree.

Housing: Students who live more than 50 miles from the University are required to live on campus for their first two years. Veterans, married students, students over 21 and students with dependents are exempt from this requirement.

Enrollment: Full-time is 12 credit hours or more during the fall or spring term and 6 credit hours per term during the summer.

College and Major: Indicate the college and major. If you are not sure of the specific major but do have a preferred college, choose that college then select the "Undecided" entry in the second drop box. If you do not attend New Student Orientation, go to your college office to declare your major and to be assigned a faculty advisor.

High School Information: List the name and location of the high school you attended or are attending. If you took the GED instead, list the test center that has your scores and your exam date.

Other Colleges Attended: List any other college or university attended prior to enrolling at Marshall. Include Marshall if you have previously been a student here or have taken college work while in high school. List AP or IB tests taken/taking.

Athletics: If you wish to participate in varsity athletics while attending Marshall, request that an official transcript indicating your overall grade point average be sent to the Admissions Office. This is an NCAA requirement. You should also make the appropriate coach aware of your interest.

ACT/SAT: The West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission requires all full-time freshmen to submit ACT or SAT scores to the Office of Admissions. Students who have graduated from high school more than five years ago are exempt from this requirement.
