Alumni Weekend 2007, The Stars are Out Tonight!,

beautiful weekend to reunite with old friends and make new ones.

Friday
The first
official event of Alumni Weekend was the Champagne Reception
beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Cooking and Culinary Institute, 917
Third Avenue.
Saturday
The
Class Luncheon honored the 50th reunion class (1957), joined by the Grand Class – those who graduated before
1957. Dr. Sam Clagg, former professor of geography and Marshall
icon, spoke at the luncheon. The event was held in the John
Marshall Dining Room, Memorial Student Center.
The highlight of the weekend was the
70th Annual Alumni Banquet honoring our
distinguished alumni and friends. The President's Social
began at 6 p.m. on the Plaza of the Memorial Student Center. The Banquet followed in the Don Morris Room at 6:30 p.m.
Sunday
Alumni
Weekend concluded its events on Sunday with approximately 240
people attending a Scholarship Honor Reception in the Don
Morris Room, Memorial Student Center. Donors and recipients of
private scholarships were honored at this annual event. Guest
speakers included Mrs. Dorcas “Dee” Hodges Burlingame, a donor
of the Virgil E. and Irene
O. Hodges Scholarship, speaking on behalf of
scholarship donors; and Ms. Jessica Slash, recipient of
The Nate Ruffin Scholarship,
representing students.

Dr. Dorothy Hicks, donor of the Dorothy E. Hicks Physical Education Scholarship, Lori Estep, recipient, and Dr. Rosalyn Templeton, dean of COEHS.

During this academic year, 2,068 private
scholarships valued at nearly $2 million were awarded (some
students qualifying for more than one award). This event
recognizes and applauds the generosity of our donors and the
achievements of our students.
