Have you heard about Face
Book? How about My Space?
Where I am heading – do you know
we have an alumni site that gives you a lot of what is on these
other sites, and it is a closed network for us? It is our Online
Community. Are you signed up yet? Do not miss out on what we
have. I have used this site to find college friends. I have had
others find me. That best friend from 30 years ago might be
trying to find you. Make it easy. Post on our Online Community.
Post a class note. Search for that friend whom you know you want
to catch up with. Post a picture of yourself with your profile –
we all have changed a little.
Once you have signed on, update
your profile. This makes it easier for people to find you. The
Global Search Tool is great. If I am looking for a certain
sorority sister, but do not know her married name, I can search
my sorority name to pull up women registered. The more of us who
are signed on, the stronger the community becomes.
Take about ten minutes and get on
line. Make our community one person stronger with your name and
information. Then start renewing old friendships.
While on line, check out the
photos – alumni pets in Marshall gear; future Marshall alumni.
How about the pictures from Homecoming and our first annual
Marshall cruise? There is a lot to share, and more will be
coming.
Once you have added yourself, send
me an invitation to become your “friend.” We have 80,000 alumni
out there – how many “friends” can I add?

Online Community:

Are you ready for the
Chesapeake Energy Capital
Classic? It is coming up fast. Wednesday, January 23 –
Marshall v. WVU. I hope to see your there. I invite you to the
Civic Center South Hall for the MUAA reception. The women’s game
starts at 5:30 p.m., and the men at 8. As always, please stop to
say "hello" to me and other members of the board, as well as the
Alumni Relations staff. We look forward to seeing you there. If
you can’t be there in person, you can listen to a live stream
beginning at 5 p.m. on WMUL-FM, 88.1. It is a great way to catch
the game.
Always wearing the green…
