Houston Area Marshall University Alumni ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL? Once again we will be holding football viewings at the SRO Sports Bar. Mark you calendar! For our first football viewing will be: Saturday, October 3, 2009, at 11 a.m. Marshall vs. East Carolina. We will be selling t-shirts and holding a raffle. This year Marshall will not be coming to Houston to play any games, but the Thundering Herd will be in New Orleans, La., on October 10 to play Tulane. If you are interested in going as a group contact, Cathy Ambridge at 281-586-9570. Your alumni officers are asking you to consider serving as an officer. Please contact Cathy Ambridge if you are interested. Your current board has served graciously for the past three years. We need your help in order for the Houston Area Marshall University alumni to grow bigger and better. We are also looking for more Marshall University alumni and friends. Saturday, February 21, 2009, the Houston Area Marshall University Alumni held its Inaugural Dinner at the Briar Club. Everyone in attendance enjoyed the social hour, making new friends and reconnecting with alumni.
Dr. Kopp shared his vision and goals for Marshall. His enthusiasm proves that Marshall University has a bright and shining future with him as the University President. Dr. Ron Area shared his goals for the Marshall foundation.
Bob Brammer presented the first “Bob Brammer Outstanding Houston Alumni.” This year the winner was Cathy Ambridge, president of the Houston Area Marshall Alumni Club. Cathy was presented with a beautiful inscribed clock. Cathy, along with the rest of the board members have working diligently to get the Houston Area alumni club going.
The silent auction raised money for our club. Items auctioned included an autographed football, basketball, an MU quilt and many other great items. Everyone is looking forward to next year's dinner, so mark you calendars now for our 2010 annual dinner.
