February 19, 2008. Carla Westcott and Colleen Thew from
Huntington helped the local alumni by running the silent auction
raising funds for Marshall. Also attending were Chad & Robin
Pennington, former head coach Bob Pruett and wife Elsie, Jim and
Verna Gibson, Tim Haymaker, Jim and Bobbie Farley, just to
mention a few.

WE NEED
HELP PLEASE! Those of you who are here in the Sarasota/Tampa
Bay area are encouraged to contact one of our committee members
and/or officers to volunteer to help (or even participate) with
any one of the following planned activities.
We REALLY
need you and would appreciate your being active in supporting
our "fledgling" local chapter to make it one of the best in the
country...
Committee Meeting Minutes, October 1, 2007
Submitted by Don White
PRESENT: Alan Silva, John Flavin,
Jim Gibson, Larry Berkery, Barbara Pryor and Don White
Alan called
the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m.
AGENDA
1. Movie
Watching - We have decided to continue
our efforts to view WE ARE MARSHALL at the Sarasota Yacht Club
on November 10th. The doors will open at 12:30 p.m.
with lunch at 1 p.m. Following lunch, we will watch the movie.
The cost will be $20 per person. Following the movie, we will
watch the Marshall-East Carolina game at the Yacht Club (if
available) or go to the Sports Page. Barbara will confirm all
arrangements with the Yacht Club next week.
2. Chapter
Mission/Goals and Responsibilities -
Allen passed out copies of the Marshall University Club Officers
Handbook for everyone to review. It basically identifies the
club officers and their responsibilities. It also has
suggestions for club committees and best practices for club
success. At this point, Allen explained that John Flavin has
asked to step down as vice president. Allen asked that Don White
consider replacing John along with help from John Merical. If
Don and John both accept, they would function as
co/vice-presidents. They will inform Allen before the next
meeting.
3. Game
Watching Schedule - John will check
with the Sports Page to determine what remaining games can be
viewed from that location and will let us know.
4. Treasures
Report - Larry reported that an
account has been opened and has a current balance of $150.
5. Student
Recruiting Report - Greg Hardesty was
unable to attend the meeting, but sent an e-mail stating that he
now has a large supply of recruitment materials and has asked
for volunteers to help in future recruitment fairs. John, Jim
and Allen volunteered. A question came up regarding whether or
not there could be a NCAA recruiting violation if a member of
the Big Green Club was a volunteer at one of these recruitment
fairs. John is looking into this for us.
Next Meeting-TBD by Allen and he
will e-mail us.
Meeting adjourned at 5:30 p.m.
