Marshall University will be well represented in Saturday's Hula Bowl
at Honolulu's Aloha Stadium. Wide receiver
Marcus Fitzgerald, quarterback
Bernard Morris and center
Doug Legursky will suit up for the Aina (East) team in the
annual senior all-star game.
The game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. (EST) start and will be televised
by Versus (check local listings).
The game, now in its 62nd year, pits collegiate all-stars from the
East (Aina) against the West (Kai).
Marshall's trio of representatives are being coached by Illinois
head coach Ron Zook and Boston College head coach Jeff Jagodzinski.
The West squad is being led by UNLV head coach Mike Sanford and
Oregon State's Mike Riley.
Morris, who passed for 3,149 yards and 17 touchdowns, and rushed for
an additional 488 yards and four scores this season, is one of three
quarterbacks on the East roster. He is joined by Tulsa quarterback
Paul Smith and New Hampshire quarterback Ricky Santos.
Legursky, a Beckley native and a three-time All-Conference USA
selection at center, may see time at both center and guard for the
East team, while Fitzgerald is one of six wide outs listed on the
East roster.
Morris, Legursky and Fitzgerald all traveled to Honolulu on Monday
and have been taking part in practices and activities surrounding
the game. On Tuesday the players were evaluated by NFL scouts and on
Saturday they will take part in a youth football clinic prior to the
game.
