Jam the Cam VII
set
for Sunday against Navy
The Herd women meet Navy on Sunday, Dec.16, at 1 p.m.
at the Cam Henderson Center.
This year will be a salute to our troops
as all current and former military personnel will be
given free admission to Sunday's game with their
military id. Admission will be $1 for all others.
The
Alumni Association, in support of the women’s basketball
program, will give away a 32-inch flat panel TV to
a lucky member in the audience. Each person who attends
the game will receive one ticket for a chance at the TV.
The drawing will be at
halftime. You must be present to win.
A military theme will surround the game as the
Marine Corps Color Guard will be present and a video
presentation will be shown in honor of the troops. West Virginia
legend Woody Williams, the oldest living recipient of the Medal
of Honor, will also be present.
"We are very excited to host the Naval Academy,"
head coach Royce Chadwick said. "We are hoping for a great
showing of our military personnel who will get in free with
their id."
"We are also looking forward to the four color
guards that will be in attendance. It will also be a tremendous
honor for Woody Williams to be in our facility."
In the previous six years, the event has brought
in over 24,000 fans. Marshall set the school and Mid-American
Conference single-game attendance record in 2004 against
Kentucky with 7,017 in attendance. The inaugural "Jam the Cam"
in 2001 brought in 5,256 people, which set the school record at
that time.
Prior to Sunday's game, the Herd will face Ohio
University on Friday at 11 a.m. In its last action, Marshall
evened its record at 4-4 with an 82-70 win at North Texas last
Tuesday.
