A message from Sharon Porter,
president of the MU Alumni Association
Greetings
from the Marshall Alumni Association!
Spring seems to
be upon us and lots will be happening at Marshall.
Alumni Weekend is
our big focus right now, plans are coming together for a wonderful
weekend full of activities. Mark your calendars for April 21st and
22nd and plan on attending. Marshall’s campus will be blooming with
spring and you can see it all.
Friday the
21st my alumni board will have their spring meeting and planning
sessions. Friday evening there will be a reception at the Joan C.
Edwards Playhouse and we will go to the student production of
William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. Over a few blocks at the
Renaissance Center, J. Mark McVey, one of our award winners, will be
in concert, so both of these events will make for a great Friday
night.
Saturday the 10th
(1996), 50th (1955), 60th (1945) and Grand Alumni classes will be
honored with a luncheon and recognition. The annual Green and White
football game will be played and Dr. Kopp will be officially
installed as our new university president. This will also be an open
house day on campus for prospective students, whew!! Not sure we can
get anything else in, but we can and we will.
The big finale is
our Alumni Awards Banquet, with many great MU alums being honored --
Troy Brown, J. Mark McVey, Jim Gibson, Barbara Guyer, and my own
wonderful husband, Jeff Porter, being honored.
Sunday afternoon
there is a ceremony to honor Marshall students being inducted into
Who’s Who on American Colleges.
So come on in to
town and be around all this fun, you won’t want to miss it.
Sincerely,

MUAA President
