Hello alumni
and friends,
Summer is
almost upon us and activities for Marshall alumni clubs will
really kick into high gear. You will see lots of golf scrambles
and summer outings planned. Please check our
club web site to stay up on what clubs are doing in your
area.
We welcomed
more than 3,000 new alumni into our ranks at graduation early
this month and hope they will stay in touch with us and our club
network wherever they go. I assured them that you, “the old
alumni,” would be a network of help and resources for them out
there in the cold cruel world of job searching. I also want to
remind them and you that you have many benefits from the Alumni
Association. You have permanent forwarding e-mail for life,
access to the Marshall Drinko Library data bases for job
research or whatever, and the great option to know other
Marshall alumni in your area through our club network. Many of
our clubs now work to earn scholarship money for area high
school students who attend Marshall and help us recruit these
students. For more about the benefits of being a member of the
Alumni Association, please go to this
page.
New Alumni
Association board members will be coming on board soon, and we
said goodbye to some very faithful members who have given us six
years of service. Bob Yost, Jack Trainer, Suzanne Dickens and
Janis Winkfield were recognized at our last board meeting for
their service and dedication. I hope they will consider running
again next year to come back on the board and help with
projects.
Our
homecoming committee is already gearing up for the events in the
fall and plans are afoot for pre-game fun for the first ever
MU/WVU game in Huntington on September 8. There will be a Friday
night event at Pullman Square with live music and fun, so make
plans now to attend and root for the Herd. There will be
tailgate parties for away football games at Miami and other
venues, so plan to join us at these away
games.
I hope your
summer is busy and safe and full of Marshall!! As always, if
you need to contact me, my e-mail address is
