Two ROTC scholarships endowed

Lt. Col. Joseph V. Samek, professor of military science, is pleased to announce an increase in the endowments for two ROTC scholarships at Marshall University due to the great generosity of the benefactors of these scholarships.

The first is the James Boude Baylor Scholarship, made available through the generosity of Maj. Gen. and Mrs. Baylor. The Baylors have recently provided an additional $30,000 to the endowment.

The second is the Maj. Gen. David Stallings ROTC Scholarship, made available through the generosity of Maj. Gen. and Mrs. Stallings. The Stallings have recently provided an additional $5,000 to the endowment. Both the Baylors and the Stallings have provided continuing gifts and support to the university and the ROTC program.

Attention ROTC members:
Marshall's Annual Military Ball will be held on Thursday, April 19, at the John Marshall Room in the Memorial Student Center. Arrival and Cocktails will begin at 5:30 p.m. Ceremony and Dinner begin at 6 p.m.

"Through these gifts, and other benefactor scholarships such as the Maj. Gen. James Hylton Scholarship and the 2nd Lt. Honaker Memorial Scholarship, the ROTC is able to provide appropriate rewards to our superb cadets," said Samek. "Additionally, numerous donations to the university designated to the ROTC Thundering Herd Battalion Fund assist the program in providing morale support activities. Friends and alumni of the ROTC program continue to assist in our mission to attract, train and commission young men and women of character to be officers in the Army."

For more information about these scholarships, please contact Joseph V. Samek, P. E., LTC, EN, Professor of Military Science, at (304) 696-2650.
