We Are...Marshall Memorabilia auction raises more than $10,000

The internet
auction for We…Are Marshall movie memorabilia was a
tremendous success. Costumes worn during filming, as well as
many props from the movie, were auctioned during a two-week live
auction on www.Herdzone.com.
Marshall
Alumni and supporters, as well as fans of the film from all over
the country, bid on the items. One of the lucky auction winners,
Mike Skeens, co-owner of the Marshall Hall of Fame Café, is now
the proud owner of many of the costumes, including cheerleading
uniforms, lettermen jackets, and the #29 jersey worn by “Chris
Griffin” in the film.
There were 36
items which collectively sold for more than $10,000. The
proceeds will be divided between the Big Green and Marshall
University foundations, and used primarily to fund
scholarships. A portion of the proceeds will be allocated for
the libraries, specifically Special Collections, where the staff
logged many hours during the production of the film and helped
enormously with the cataloging and management of movie
memorabilia generously provided by Warner Brothers.
