We Are...Marshall, and we are coming to your area! On November 9, the most prestigious women’s basketball pre-season tournament in the nation will be tipping off the 2007-2008 WNIT! Conference USA will be proudly represented by...you guessed it...MARSHALL!

 

For the first time in school history, Marshall University will be participating in the Invitation only WNIT! We open the tournament at Evansville against the Missouri Valley Conference front-running Purple Aces. We want to invite you to be a part of Marshall history and come support the Herd. Game time will be 6 p.m. Central.

 

We have a great team recruited for this year’s campaign. We bring back Meg Withrow from Nitro, W.Va., as our top scorer. You will remember she is the all-time West Virginia high school leading scorer surpassing Jerry West! Also returning is Chantelle Handy who this summer represented Great Britain’s Olympic basketball program. Add to these returnees three of the nation’s top-ranked recruits, and the future is exciting. Come see the fast and furious Herd open the 2007-2008 season.

 

The WNIT invitation committee bases a great deal of importance on a team’s potential support if invited to their tournament. We want to show them how strong our family ties are, in hopes they will not wait another 38 years to invite us back. Please mark your calendars today, break out your green and come to Evansville to inspire our troops.
