Network

Marshall
football a state-wide television presence
Marshall University Director of
Athletics Bob Marcum has announced that West Virginia Media
Holdings will televise selected Thundering Herd football games
for the remainder of the 2006 season on a state-wide basis.
"We appreciate
West Virginia Media for stepping up to televise our games in
several markets that are very important to Marshall
University," Marcum said.
West Virginia
Media Holdings, the parent company to WOWK-TV in the
Huntington/Charleston market, will televise the Thundering
Herd's Sept. 23 contest at Tennessee, the October 14th
game at SMU, the October 21st game at UAB, and the Oct. 28th
homecoming game with Memphis. West Virginia Media is also
tentatively scheduled to broadcast Marshall's November 25th game
at Southern Miss.
"We believe
that Marshall is an important part
of our area and that there is great fan interest in seeing the
Thundering Herd," President and CEO of West Virginia Media Bray
Cary said. "We are excited to be able to bring these games to
the fans."
Veteran
television announcers Dave Weekley and John Gregory will serve
as play-by-play announcer and analyst for the contests.
In addition to
WOWK-TV in the Huntington/Charleston market, WVNS-DT in
Beckley/Bluefield, WTRF-DT in Wheeling/Weirton, and WBOY (with
the exception of the Tennessee game) in
Clarksburg/Morgantown will televise the games.
