Mrs. Anne Ward and her daughter,
Mrs. Julie Klein, hosted a fundraising reception for Marshall’s
Society of Yeager
Scholars at their home in Bellefonte, Ky., on May 31.
The program brought together
friends and alumni from the Ashland, Ky., area to celebrate the
Yeager Scholars program at Marshall University, and to honor
Mrs. Ward’s late husband, John Ward. Ward worked actively with
the Yeager program from its inception to help make it one of the
premier honors program offered by any university in our country
today.
Marshall
University’s 36th president, Dr. Stephen J. Kopp, and the new
executive director of the Yeager Scholars Program, Dr. Barry
Sharpe, were in attendance at the celebration.
Sharpe,
who received his juris doctor degree from the Texas
School of Law and his Ph.D. from the University of South
Carolina, was formerly the founding director of the Tusculum
College Honors Program.
The program included several
speakers whom have witnessed first hand the excellent results of
the Yeager Scholars Program.
