Cam Henderson: A Coach's Story wins Emmy

Last month we reported that Cam Henderson: A Coach's Story won a first place Platinum Award at the 40th Annual Worldfest-Houston International Film Festival.

On Saturday, June 23, television’s highest honor was awarded to Cam Henderson: A Coach's Story at the 43rd Annual Midwestern Regional Emmy Awards. The ceremony, hosted by the Ohio Valley Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, was held at the Hyatt Regency in Columbus, Ohio.

A total of 620 entries, representing the work of more than 70 organizations, yielded 253 nominations. A complete list of Emmy recipients may be found at www.ohiovalleyemmy.org

The result of three years of research and production, Cam Henderson is the story of West Virginia’s greatest coach, who invented basketball’s zone defense and fast break.

Multiple Emmy-Award winners Deborah Novak and John Witek have produced and directed a number of highly acclaimed television documentaries in addition to Cam Henderson. These include Ashes to Glory: The Tragedy and Triumph of Marshall University Football, Hearts of Glass, Blenko Handcraft, Blenko Retro, and New Music.

A DVD of the program with four bonus features is available at Huntington-area bookstores.
