Filming for movie at Scrimmage Game
1996 Herd Team called
back
Warner Brothers production
crews will film the crowd at the Green-White game for a clip
at the end of the movie, We Are Marshall.
The footage shot at the game will show how Marshall football
evolved to its current status.
Because of the production schedule, the scene could not be
shot at a regular game, so the emphasis will be on the
excitement of the crowd, not the game.
The 1996 Thundering Herd
national championship team has scheduled a reunion around
the weekend. Former team members, including NFL veterans
Randy Moss and Chad Pennington, will serve as Green-White
coaches.
Game time is 4 p.m. at the Joan C. Edwards Stadium on
Saturday, April 22.
Warner Bros. has purchased several thousand tickets
for the game to give out to those who participated as extras
in Monday's and Tuesday's filmings. The crew hopes to see about 10,000 fans at the game.
Tickets for the Green-White game are available at the MU
Ticket Office, located on the first floor of the Cam
Henderson Center or call
1
(800) THE-HERD.
Admission is $5 and all
proceeds benefit Marshall's Quarterback Club.
The movie "We Are Marshall" tells the story of the recovery
of the football program and the city in the year following
the 1970 plane crash that killed 75, including the football
team.
