About
APO
The Purpose of
this Fraternity shall be to assemble college students in a National
Service Fraternity in the fellowship of the principles of Alpha
Phi Omega; to develop Leadership, to promote Friendship and
provide Service to humanity; and to further the freedom that
is our national, educational, and intellectual heritage.
The Marshall University (Eta Upsilon) Chapter of Alpha Phi
Omega was originally formed as one of the first chapters in
the state of West Virginia. The Chapter prospered and grew for
a number of years, but then fell on hard times during the mid
to late 90's and lost all membership.
In the Spring of 2000, a group of students, working with the
Sectional Chair and several APO alumni from around the state,
rebuilt the chapter to again establish its presence on Marshall's
campus. Our chapter has continued to grow since this time and
now prospers, participating in activities throughout the community
and state as a chapter and with other chapters.
Every chapter of APO establishes its own bi-laws and rules
for membership, following with the basic guidelines provided
by the national organization. This allows for a great deal of
freedom in assuring that the chapter operates in the best interests
of its current members. Service, Social, and Leadership activities
are all planned by the members and officers of the organization.
The chapter is as active as its members.
