January  2002

The January 10, 2002 Teacher Partner meeting involved a road trip to the NASA Independent Verification and Validation Facility in Fairmont, West Virginia.  The over arching goal of the session was for the Teacher Partners to become familiar with the Educator Resource Center and to network with Karen Davis, Program Manager and Valerie Graves, Program Coordinator.  The NASA classroom resources that are linked to mathematics and science are at little or no cost to classroom teachers and they are excellent.  The Teacher Partners were lead through several hands-on math and science activities by Ms. Davis.   Means of accessing the resources was shared by Ms. Davis and the Teacher Partners and they were encouraged to share this information with their colleagues.  During the trip, upcoming professional development events and resources were discussed and reviewed with the Teacher Partners.  Each Teacher Partner was given a copy of Nancy Love’s book on using data to make decisions.   The book will be used to discuss how to make better use of state, district, school and ARSI data.
