March 1999,
Marshall University, Huntington WV

The March MU Teacher Partner meeting was held in conjunction with the WVCTM Annual Conference. The conference called - What's cookin? "A Taste of Math" offered over 75 sessions that covered K-12 specific topics. Teacher Partners met in a separate ARSI session in addition to the general sessions.

State professional meetings are a wonderful opportunity for teachers to get and share new ideas with peers as well as see some of the latest instructional materials. Teacher Partners Linda Richards and Carolyn Falin provided a K-2 session - Gobble Up Math, using kids' favorite manipulative - food in mathematics activities.

The Friday evening banquet featured Steve Leinwand, representing the NCTM Board of Directors. Combining fast talk, cartoons and personal experiences, Leinwand challenged the banquet attendees with his presentation - Why Bother Changing? Some Compelling Answers for Colleagues and Skeptics.

Teacher of the Year in Elementary, Middle and High School were announced at the WVCTM Banquet as well as other grants and awards.
