In addition to the Banner HR Human Resources Information System (HRIS),
Marshall University participates in the State of West Virginia EPICS
payroll system. The EPICS system is the actual source of paychecks
and direct deposits. Payroll deduction information may potentially
appear in both systems, however, Banner HR records only those deductions
that are (1) tax sheltered or (2) which have University matching amounts.
These deductions are mirrored in the EPICS system along with all other
deductions that do not satisfy these two criteria. Those who view
information in the Banner HR system are, therefore, cautioned that they
may not see all of the payroll deductions that exist for a particular
employee. Individuals with questions about payroll deductions may
contact the Payroll Office for assistance. Information on benefits
selection and coverage - which may have an impact on deductions - may be
obtained from Human Resource Services.
