HRIS OVERVIEW
Marshall University
operates a human resources information system (HRIS)
utilizing SCT Corporation's Banner HR™
product.
Banner HR™ supports
Marshall's efforts in recruiting, hiring, supporting, and retaining the best
candidates for meeting the University's mission and goals. Banner HR™
enables the University to process applicants; manage personnel, benefits,
and positions; monitor compensation, labor relations, and health and safety;
administer budgets; and process payroll in an efficient integrated manner.
Banner HR™ changes the way in
which the human resource and payroll processes are supported. For example,
the traditional paper Personnel Action Request (PAR) used to process
appointments, resignations, etc., will be replaced by the Banner HR™
Electronic Personnel Action Form (EPAF).
The payroll process will be
supported by new reporting media that should be faster, more efficient, and
less paper-oriented. Usage of annual leave and sick leave will be reported
as a part of the payroll process. In general, the Banner HR™ will allow for
a number of human resource and payroll functions to be extended directly to
customers by accessing information and making decisions from their personal
computer desktop. Banner HR™ provides robust security so that persons can
only see records on a need-to-know basis.
Information about Banner HR™
processes will be added to this site as time goes and may be reviewed by
clicking the appropriate buttons in the list at the left.
BANNER USERS GROUP - HUMAN
RESOURCES
The implementation of Banner
HR™ at Marshall University is supported by the
Banner Users Group - Human Resources (BUG-H). BUG-H
develops plans for the implementation of Banner HR™ functions, troubleshoots
problems, assesses opportunities with particular components, coordinates a
schedule for implementation, and provides user training.
