The Beta Alpha Psi Ramen Noodle Cook-Off is quickly coming upon us!
This year, our Ramen Noodle Cook-Off will be hosted on Saturday March 9th, 2013 from 11am to 4pm in the Marco room in the basement of the Student Center at Marshall University!
For the last two years, Beta Alpha Psi has hosted a fundraiser at Marshall University to benefit the Palms for Life Charity. This charity is dedicated to ending poverty by addressing its root causes. They focus their impact on underprivileged people in Africa, Asia and Latin America focusing on food security, water access and education. They also raise awareness about hunger and poverty in the United States.
In addition, this year Beta Alpha Psi is working with the Huntington Area Food Bank to host a food drive leading up to the Ramen Noodle Cook-off, so that we can also give back to our own community and raise awareness for the support needed in our own area. Starting February 25th, there will be food drive barrels located at the Black Sheep Burrito and Brew, Fruth Pharmacy located on Route 60 by the Burger King, and there will also be a box to drop off donations at the accounting department of Corbly Hall on the Marshall University campus.
This year we have made several changes to the template, including opening the competition to those who wish to compete. You do not have to be a member of Beta Alpha Psi, you don’t even have to be in college! If this is something that interests you, you can do it!
The format of the Cook-Off is fairly simple. Each team consists of two members. Those teams will be given 30 minutes to transform simple Ramen noodles into the masterpiece of their choosing. Each team will be allowed five additional items they can bring with them to enhance their Ramen noodles.
Beta Alpha Psi will provide each team with Ramen Noodles, and there will be a selection of several pantry items available to all the teams, which we will list on this page once the cook-off draws near.
The cost for per team is $10, all of which will go directly to Palms for Life.
