So how exactly do you become a member of Beta Alpha Psi anyway?

Well, there are a few requirements for you to become a full member, and the requirements to become a candidate for full membership is listed below.

Not yet able to meet all the requirements? Not to worry! Though you may not yet be able to be a national member of Beta Alpha Psi, the Kappa Phi Chapter welcomes you. If the requirements are not able to be met this time around, you are still welcome to participate as a Chapter member candidate of Beta Alpha Psi. Then, once you have met all the requirements, we can raise you to a nationally recognized member.

Candidate Requirements for National Member

  • Must be an accounting, finance, or management information systems major.
  • Must have completed a minimum of 30 semester hours of college courses (sophomore standing).
  • Must meet minimum academic standards by any of the following methods:
    Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
    Have at least a 3.25 cumulative GPA in the most recent 30 semester hours.
    Be in the top 35% of their university class.
  • Pay one-time fee of $60. This fee includes a $45 lifetime membership fee to the national BAP fraternity.
  • Be sworn in as a candidate at an official meeting.

Full Membership Requirements for National Member

To successfully complete the pledge process and become a full member of the Kappa Phi Chapter of BAP, students must complete the following requirements during a single semester:

  • Have completed a minimum of 60 semester hours of college courses (junior standing).
  • Have taken or be taking at least one junior level course in their major.
  • Attend a minimum of 80% of the weekly meetings.
  • Achieve a minimum of 20 total hours, of which a minimum of 8 hours must be professional development and a minimum of 8 hours must be service. At least ¾ of these hours, in each category, must be BAP sponsored activities.
  • Be sworn in as a member at an official initiation meeting.

Members in Good Standing

To maintain your status as a member in good standing, members must complete the following items each semester.

  • Attend a minimum of 80% of the weekly meetings.
  • Achieve a minimum of 20 total hours, of which a minimum of 8 hours must be professional development and a minimum of 8 hours must be service. At least ¾ of these hours, in each category, must be BAP sponsored activities.
  • Members in good standing receive a Beta Alpha Psi Stole to wear during graduation.
