Previous Black Alumni Fundraising Campaigns
Black Alumni previously launched Campaign 2003. The objective of this campaign was to reach an even a higher goal than achieved for
the successful Campaigns 2000-2002. Black Alumni desires to continue building a legacy to help our
black students succeed at Marshall University and to assure the growth and
vision of Black Alumni. The
Campaign 2003 monies were primarily be used to establish an endowed
scholarship and to help students with textbooks and tutorial assistance
through the African American Students Office.
Campaign 2000 was the beginning of Black Alumni's desire to establish a legacy to help
our black students succeed at Marshall University. Money from Campaign 2000
was used to establish a loan program to help students with textbooks through the African American Students Office. Money from subsequent
Campaigns 2001 and 2002 was used to establish the Nate Ruffin Scholarship
Fund.
Scholarships will be awarded
annually to Marshall University students based on the following criteria:
-
Priority will be given to
African American students. Recipients must be enrolled as a
full-time Marshall University undergraduate or graduate student.
-
The student must have a
cumulative grade point average of 2.5 undergraduates and 3.0 graduates.
