Biosafety Training @ BBSC 101
May 27 @ 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm

On Wednesday, May 27th, Nathan Douglas, MU Chemical and Biological Safety Officer, will conduct a Biosafety Training session from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm, and a Chemical Safety Training session from 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm in the Biotechnology Science Center, Room 101.

Dr. Vincent Sollars will conduct an rDNA training from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm.

In accordance with OSHA regulations, all Marshall University faculty, staff, and paid research students working in laboratories and other areas where biohazard materials and/or hazardous chemicals are in use must attend these annual trainings.   The rDNA training is new, and all faculty, staff, and students working with rDNA should attend this training.

These trainings are also required for all research students, particularly those just entering into research positions, as well as all students that will participate in summer research programs.

The Biosafety and Chemical Safety training presentations are available online as well, click here for instructions for accessing the online training.

The Biosafety training will address:

  1. Biosafety Levels
  2. Management of infectious agents and biohazard waste
  3. Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure

The Chemical Safety training will address:

  1. Chemical Management
  2. Safe Storage
  3. Waste Disposal
  4. Emergency Response
