Tax Benefits for Higher Education

The Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997 provided the Hope and Lifetime Learning tax credits.  These are tax credits that may be available to you if you pay higher education costs. 

To assist you in claiming these credits, Marshall University will file form 1098-T with the Internal Revenue Service by January 31 each year.  This information in no way represents tax advice from the University.

Please note that it is the responsibility of the taxpayer to determine eligibility for the credit.  Please do not contact Marshall University regarding your eligibility for this credit.
