Outstanding Black High School Student (OBHSS) Initiative

The OBHSS Program is considered as the university’s primary African-American student recruitment initiative each year. Marshall receives “nominations” from all WV and metro High Schools each year for the best and brightest African-American high school juniors and seniors to attend “The Weekend”, in the fall of each year

Consequently, these distinguished groups of students, upon meeting required academic standards, are considered as choice candidates for admission to the university and are rendered personalized assistance with enrollment, college planning, scholarship promotion, and membership into the Society of Black Scholars.
