Students who receive the merit-based scholarships listed here are encouraged to apply for, participate in and receive the many benefits of the MU Honors Program. Click here to download the Honors Application.
Society of Yeager ScholarsSelected for their leadership potential as well as for their academic performance, students who receive the Yeager Scholarship benefit from Marshalls premier scholarship. See the link to the Yeager Scholars web-site for detailed information. Click here to visit the Yeager Scholars website.
John Marshall ScholarshipMarshall automatically awards four-year John Marshall scholarships to students with home addresses in West Virginia whose records show the requisite GPA and test scores. The contract for this award requires that students take two honors seminars, complete 30 hours of course work each year, and attend and report on cultural and academic events twice each year. See the LINK TO FINANCIAL AID for questions on JMS disbursement. See the John Marshall "Activity Report" form on this web-site for details on the activity requirement. Click here to visit the Financial Aid website.
Erma Byrd ScholarshipNamed after the wife of long-time United States Senator from West Virginia, Robert-Byrd, these scholarships are based on the GPAs and test scores indicated in our chart, but also the student must demonstrate a sincere commitment to service to West Virginia through an essay. The Honors office invites applications from students with appropriate GPAs and ACT scores (or equivalent) from several regions of the State specified by the Donors for selection through committee. Contact CAE for further details. Click here to visit our staff contact page.
Hedrick ScholarshipCharles B. and Mary Jo Hedrick, long-time donors to Marshall University, endowed a fund in 1996 to offer a generous supplemental award to academically gifted students from Cabell, Logan, Putnam, and Wayne counties in West Virginia. The Hedrick scholars participate in the University Honors program, and receive up to the current equivalent of tuition, fees, and book costs after other awards and parental tax incentives have been applied to costs. It may continue for eight semesters. For more details on requirements and benefits contact CAE. Click here to visit our staff contact page.
Other ScholarshipsThe CAE also administers a Foreign Study Scholarship, a Domestic Study scholarship and the Paul J. Mayer Leadership West Virginia scholarship. The annual travel awards contribute to one students international travel costs abroad and one students domestic travel costs for study. The students leadership potential as well as GPA help determine the awardee. CAE announces application dates for these scholarships through e-mails and posters.
