Perform, Exhibit, Broadcast, Publish and More

Finding your passion is simple, so ask yourself this: What inspires you? Whatever it is, we can help you hone your skills to achieve your dreams.

Create art that is featured in one of our galleries on-campus or downtown, and write for The Parthenon, Marshall’s student newspaper since 1887. Go on air with WMUL-FM, West Virginia’s first non-commercial, educational radio station, and then be seen with MU Report, the School of Journalism and Mass Communication’s broadcast media group. Perform music with one of our many vocal, instrumental or world music ensembles in Smith Recital Hall, or explore acting and production in our state-of-the-art Joan C. Edwards PlayhouseWork with extraordinary teachers and faculty mentors who are renowned artists and performers, journalists and mass communicators.

About the College of Arts and Media

Through our rich public programs, the College of Arts and Media (founded July 2013) offers professional, discipline-based training within broad-learning context in four schools: the School of Art and Design, the W. Page Pitt School of Journalism and Mass Communications, the School of Music and the School of Theatre. Major in art education, journalism education, or music education through the College of Education and Professional Development. Also available are minors in advertising, art, dance, journalism, music, public relations or theatre are also possible.

Also a part of CAM, the Marshall Artists Series presents world-class artists and organizations to our students and communities through special events and festivals.

Students in the College of Arts and Media can place an emphasis on their particular area of interest, while learning in a broad context. Consequently, College of Arts and Media graduates are prepared to live as global citizens and 21st century leaders. As what and just how we communicate continues to transform, students are provided well-rounded education to succeed.
