Q: Are appointments to visit the Career Services Center required?

A: Appointments are recommended, but the Career Services Center is open to walk-ins as well.

 

Q: Where is the Career Services Center located?

A: The Marshall University Career Services Center is located on the corner of 5th Ave. and 17th Street across from the Christian Center and beside Harless Cafeteria.

 

Q: How can I request a presentation for my class?

A: You can register for a presentation online by clicking here or you can contact the Career Services Center by phone at 304-696-2370 or by email at career-services@marshall.edu.

 

Q: What is JobTrax?

A: MARSHALL JobTrax is Career Services’ online employment database. Users can search for job postings online and post their own resumes and cover letters for jobs or internships they are interested in. Employers can also register and they post job openings, internships, and seasonal opportunities.

 

Q: How do I register for Jobtrax?

A: Students, alumni, faculty and employers can register for Jobtrax online from our Web site, www.marshall.edu/career-services.com. Once registered, fill out appropriate profile information and upload documents such as resumes and cover letters. If you experience any difficulty registering for Jobtrax you can stop by the office for assistance or call 304-696-2370.

 

Q: What can you do for a student who is unsure about their major or career path?

A: For students unsure of majors or career paths, career assessments may assist in answering questions and determining potential future occupations. Upperclassmen may take career inventories to locate suitable work environments and industries based on temperaments, values, interests and skills. The SIGI3 assessment assists in suggesting suitable career possibilities by measuring and evaluating values, interests, and activities. This is a computerized, self-guided program and can be accessed online any time and is free to Marshall students and alumni. Q: If students need part-time work or work study positions what should they do?

A: There are a few steps job searchers can take to find a job using Career Services. First, Marshall University Career Services’ online database, Jobtrax can be used to post resumes and seek employment. Also, Job Location & Development (JLD), a federally funded program, assists students in finding local employment. Q: What typical presentations do you offer?

A: Our presentation topics include resumes, interviewing, job searching, dress for success, selecting your major and how to use MARSHALL JobTrax.

 

Q: How do I make a referral to Career Services for a student who wants to change their major, what is the process and who does the student contact?

A: We assist students with major changing decision by offering one-on-one counseling and tailoring their interests and skills to prospective job opportunities. They can contact Career Services at 304-696-2370 or career-services@marshall.edu.

 

Q: Can I post GA positions with Career Services, who do I contact?
