Frequently Asked Questions

Q: My son/daughter doesn’t know what to major in. Do you offer any services that could help?

A: Marshall University Career Services offer students the option of taking career assessments. These assessments suggest suitable career possibilities by measuring and evaluating values, interests, and activities. For more information, visit our career assessment page.

Q: How can my son/daughter find a part-time job?

A: There are a few steps job searchers can take to find a job using Career Services. First, Marshall University Career Services’ online database, JobTrax can be used to post resumes and seek employment. Also, Job Location & Development (JLD), a federally funded program, assists students in finding local employment. For more information, contact Debby Stoler at stolerd@marshall.edu or 304-696-2370 or visit our part time jobs page.

Q: Do those jobs qualify as work-study?

A: Students can qualify for part-time work-study occupations although not all occupations qualify. For more information, contact the Office of Student Financial Assistance at (304) 696-3162 or contact Debby Stoler at stolerd@marshall.edu or 304-696-2370.

Q: Are appointments required?

A: The Marshall University Career Services Center is located on the corner of 5th Ave. and 17th Street across from the Christian Center and Harless Cafeteria.
