This project was made possible by the support of the Honors College and the efforts of several individuals: Writing Mentor Eric Smith, Teaching Assistant Lauren Angel, and Web designer Shawn Larkin.
Eric Smith holds an MFA in creative writing from the University of Florida, and an MA in English from Northern Michigan University. His poems and reviews appear most recently in Five Points, Pleiades, Verse, and the Best New Poets 2010 anthology. He is also an editor for Cellpoems, a txt-message poetry journal. He teaches courses in autobiography and memoir, twentieth-century poetry, and composition at Marshall University.
Lauren Angel graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a BFA in ballet performance. She danced professionally before returning to school to pursue a master's degree in history at Marshall University. Lauren's interests included cultural, social, and regional history. She is writing her MA thesis on the West Virginia Dance Festival. This semester Lauren has enjoyed working with students as they researched, organized, and constructed papers on civil rights in West Virginia. She has helped guide individual students through the research and writing process and has learned a great deal from the projects produced through this class. She hopes others will benefit from these projects as well.
Shawn Larkin is currently finishing a degree ar Marshall University in Computer Programming and Game Development, but also does web design. This website was put together through the collaboration of all members involved.
