Quality Matters introduces participants to the Quality Matters program (http://www.qmprogram.org) and the QM rubric used to assess the design of online courses. Roxanne Humbert, HEPC, will introduce participants to the eight standards on the QM rubric. Additionally, participants will gain an understanding of the QM standards by applying them to an existing course. Enrollment is limited to 25 individuals in each session. Individuals who complete QM will be awarded a stipend of $500.00. QM will be offered from 9:00am - 4:00pm on:
Pedagogy Matters focuses on building and strengthening the pedagogical infrastructure of your online course. Faciliated by Karen McComas, PM begins with a face-to-face workshop, has four online modules spaced two weeks apart, and concludes on April 14, 2013. During this session, participants will develop or revise their course outcomes. Using these as the foundation for the course, participants will then align unit outcomes, assessments, instructional materials and teaching and learning activities with the new course outcomes. At the conclusion of PM, participants will have a working syllabus that is faithful to the requirements of the institution and the essential requirements of Standards 2, 3, 4 and 5 of the Quality Matters rubric. Enrollment is limited to 20 participants and is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Enrollees may choose between two options for the initial face-to-face meeting and those who complete PM will receive a stipend of $300.00. PM will be offered:
Following the initial meeting, PM will consist of four online modules spaced two weeks apart, and conclude on April 14, 2013.
Design Matters focuses on building and strengthening the technological infrastructure of your online course. Facilitated by Kristen Huff and the MUOnline Design Center staff, DM begins with a face-to-face workshop, has four online modules spaced one week apart, and concludes on May 19, 2013. Using the materials designed in the PM (Pedagogy Matters) workshop, participants will align course technologies with the course outcomes, build learner support into the course, ensure accessibility of the course and content, and create a course overview and introduction. At the conclusion of DM, participants will have an online course that is faithful to the requirements of the institution and the essential components of Standards 6, 7, 8, and 1 of the Quality Matters rubric. Enrollment is limited to 20 participants and is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
