Registration for the Fall 2012 Pedagogy of Teaching and Learning Online (PTLO)
workshop series is now open. This two-part experience is designed particularly
for MU faculty who are new to BlackBoard and/or online teaching. Participants
should register for both Part I and Part II.
Part I introduces participants to the Quality Matters program (https://www.qmprogram.org)
and the QM rubric used to assess the design of online courses. Roxanne Humbert,
HEPC, will introduce participants to the eight standards on the QM rubric. Additionally,
participants in Part I will gain an understanding of the QM standards by applying
them to an existing course. Part I may be completed in an online format or as an
on-campus session (see registration information below).
Part II, facilitated by Karen McComas and Kristen Huff, offers participants the
opportunity to deepen their understanding of best practices for online teaching
in a collaborative, multidisciplinary community. Part II begins with a one day,
on-campus session which is followed by six online modules. In these modules, participants
will learn how to integrate available technologies with their pedagogical practices
in ways that meet the eight QM standards.
All faculty who successfully complete Parts I and II of PTLO will receive a $1000
stipend, payable upon completion of Part II.
