Marshall University offers a variety of funding opportunities to encourage and support research.

Research Support

  • Quinlan Endowment Fund for Faculty Travel: supports faculty travel to attend professional meetings; maximum individual grant $500/year.
  • Graduate College Fund for Reassigned Time for Research: grants of reassigned time for research during the spring semester; applications accepted for any research project, but priority given to such requests as meeting the requirements of new external grants, to meet book production schedules, or to write and deliver recently invited papers. Criteria Information
  • Research Committee Fund to Support Faculty Research: awards typically limited to $250 in any academic year.
  • Summer Research Award: to support specific research projects that will enhance the reputation of MU and the professional standing of the recipient; use of these funds to conduct research that may be the basis for securing other extramural funding is particularly encouraged.   
  • Faculty Development Funds Awarded by Colleges: awards are for research/creative activity projects, typically for release from one course/semester.
