About the CBTC
Computer Based Testing Center

The Marshall University Computer Based Testing Center was originally established to administer the PRAXIS series of tests to College of Education and Human Services (COEHS) students. Since its formation, however, it has progressed far beyond its original intent to include testing for the entire university as well as the state as a whole. Although still a part of the College of Education and Human Services, the CBTC is now a branch of the Education Testing Service (ETS). The CBTC offers a wide variety of tests including the PRAXIS, GMAT, GRE, NBPTS, GRE, TOEFL, and many more. This testing service is available to everyone--not just Marshall students.

The M.U. Computer Based Testing Center administers computer based examinations only. The facility consists primarily of a testing area with eight computer testing stations. Due to the limited number of testing stations, it is highly recommended that advanced reservations be made for tests. All testing requires preregistration and prepayment of all fees. The CBTC does not charge for administering tests, however, there are fees (often significant) that must be paid to the ETS, individual test's certifier, etc. These fees must be paid at the time of registration.

Information about each of the tests can be found on the Available Tests page of this website. Further information can be found from each test's certifier's website (if available). Specific information concerning tests' content, associated fees, available study materials, testing rules, etc is available by request from the CBTC (Contact Us).
