  • What is Pollution Prevention?

Pollution Prevention is the reduction of waste by volume or toxicity prior to disposal or emission.

  • Three Major Types of Pollution Prevention

 Source Reduction:

Reducing or eliminating waste at its source point.

Recycling:

Any process by which materials are collected and used as raw materials for new products.

Waste Treatment:

Any method, technique, or process designed to change the composition of a hazardous material in order to either eliminate the material or reduce its toxicity to a less hazardous level.
