ABOUT THE FORUMThis is the 9th Annual Technical Forum on Geohazards in Transportation  in the Appalachian Region.  Multi-modal transportation in the Appalachian Region is essential for economic development.  This conference brings together federal, state and private entities faced with prevention, correction or remediation of similar geologic problems in the Appalachian Region.  

         

      

Sponsors:   This conference is organized by the Appalachian States Coalition for Geohazards in Transportation, sponsored by the Nick J. Rahall, II, Appalachian Transportation Institute (RTI), Center for Environmental Geotechnical and Applied Sciences (CEGAS) at Marshall UniversityKentucky Transportation Center (KTC), and the Kentucky Geological Survey (KGS).  The Appalachian States Coalition for Geohazards in Transportation coalition includes members from Departments of Transportation and State Geological Surveys from Kentucky, Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, Tennessee, Florida, North Caroline, U.S. Geological Survey, the United States Army Corps of Engineers, CSXT and Norfolk Southern Corporation.

How to Register:

Submit your registration Online or by using the printer friendly registration form and faxing to 859-257-1061.  The deadline for early registration is Monday, July 6 th.

More important information:

Remittance:  Fees must be received in advance of the conference.

Cancellation:  Cancellations received in writing by July 28 (at mhorseman@engr.uky.edu) will be refunded less a $20 processing fee. No refunds will be issued after July 28. Someone may substitute for you at any time. You are also responsible for canceling your lodging if you cannot attend. 

Times:  Registration will be available 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. EST on August 4th, and 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. EST on August 5th.

Attire:  Business casual. 

Accommodations:  Overnight accommodations can be made by calling Embassy Suites at 859-455-5500 or 1-800-EMBASSY.  A block of rooms for the conference is available starting at $115.00 plus tax until July 7th.  Lodging is the responsibility of the individual.  For information and directions visit Embassy Suites, 1801 Newtown Pike in Lexington, I-75 Exit 115 (Newtown Pike/SR 922) .
