John Wayne Gretsky Questioned About Cabin Murders

Highland Park: Officials in the Highland Park Police Department have taken Mr. John Wayne Gretsky into Headquarters concerning the recent Highland Park murders. A police spokesman indicated that they were pursuing several lines of evidence that implicate Mr. Gretsky with the crimes. He said that when Mr. Gretsky was questioned about the fiber evidence found in the abandoned fishing cabin on Little Clear Run, Mr. Gretsky speculated that the feather used as evidence was most likely from one of the down pillows on the couch. The police also supplied DNA evidence to confirm that John Wayne’s blood was present in the cabin.  After this evidence was supplied, Mr. Gretsky admitted to visiting the cabin last week where he cut his finger on a knife while sitting at the table fixing lunch. He claimed that there was no one else at the cabin when he was there.

The police also questioned Mr. Gretsky about his whereabouts during the car crash that killed Mitch Mondelo and Mondelo children.  Mr. Gretsky denied being at or near the crash scene.  As noted in a previous article, Mitch Mondelo had been under indictment for drug trafficking and along with Larry Gretsky, youngest brother of local entrepreneur J. W. Gretsky. John Wayne speculated that Mitch might have been involved in a fight with Lyle at the crash scene because of these unfortunate drug dealings.

Further police investigation has focused on the removal of the contents of Louise Mondelo’s safety deposit boxes at the First National Bank.  Police took fingerprints and analyzed some powdery residue found in the boxes. They found that the boxes contained traces of illegal drugs and revealed fingerprints of Louise and John Wayne Gretsky.  Mr. Gretsky had no comment concerning the contents of the safety deposit box and has refused to answer further questions until he has spoken to his lawyer.
