Scholarships

The following scholarships are awarded to students in the Department of Chemistry

Alumni Summer Undergraduate Research Fellow

This Fellowship provides a $4,000 stipend for an undergraduate student to spend full time working on a research project for the summer. It is funded by donations from our alumni.

Austi Sergent is the Alumni Undergraduate Research Fellow for 2009.

William C. Dudley Summer Undergraduate Research Fellow

This Fellowship provides a $4,000 stipend for an undergraduate student to spend full time working on a research project for the summer. This fellowship is made possible by the generosity of one of our alumni.

Joshua Hendrix is the Dudley Undergraduate Research Fellow for 2009.

The Chang and Chung Kong Scholarship

Endowed by the children of former chemistry professor Chang L. Kong and his wife, the Kong scholarships provide funding for tuition, fees, and books to a student for two years. One of these scholarships is awarded each spring to a sophomore chemistry major.

The Brammer Brothers Scholarship

This scholarship was endowed by three brothers who were Marshall chemistry graduates in the 1950's. It is awarded annually to a chemistry major who is a West Virginia resident.

Halima Al-Qawasmi is the 2009 Brammer Brothers Scholar

The Paul and Catherine Babb Scholarship

This scholarship was endowed by Dr. Daniel Babb in memory of his parents. It is awarded annually to a chemistry major and provides $1000 towards that student's academic expenses.

Rebecca Ragland is the 2009 Babb Scholar

The Gary Anderson Scholarship

Department faculty have named this scholarship in honor of former colleague, Dr. Anderson. It is awarded annually to a chemistry major and currently has a value of $500.

Austi Sergent is the 2009 Anderson Scholar.

The Gamma Eta Scholar Award

This endowed scholarship is administered by the Alpha Chi Sigma Educational Foundation and is awarded annually to a member of Alpha Chi Sigma based a combination of scholarly excellence and active participation in the Gamma Eta chapter of Alpha Chi Sigma. Members of the Fraternity may be majors in any of the chemical sciences. This scholarship currently has a value of $1000.

Daniel Crowder was selected as the 2009 recipient.

Hypercube Scholar (Sponsored by Hypercube, Inc.)

Charles Lowe was selected as the 2009 recipient.
