Hiroba l A meeting place for Japanese cultural exchange

small logo

Welcome!

Marshall University is fortunate to have a strong exchange program with Japan and many Japanese international students arrive each year. Likewise, U.S. students are more interested than ever in learning Japanese culture and language.

We have created this site, Hiroba, or "public square" to further that exchange while students are at Marshall and long after they have left.. We hope the site will serve as a place to stay in touch with friends,to learn about and discuss Japanese culture, and to celebrate cultural exchange.

Share what you know

Through "Hiroba" you can share your experiences at Marshall University and in Japan by posting a link to your travel blogs, adding a recipe to the International Cookbook or posting a link to your photos. Also, check out the music, movies and art section and tell us about the artists and directors you like watching in the U.S. or abroad.

Stay in touch

We hope this site will also be a portal for people to stay in touch once they leave Marshall University. Feel free to use it to contact friends from your study abroad or friends who have graduated. Alumni, please register with the Center for International Programs under the alumni link to receive updates about what is happening at Marshall. You can also find news and information about events under the events section.

In short - meet, talk and have fun!
