Course Description: A study of safety programs at both the state and local levels including administrative, instructional and protective aspects of a comprehensive
safety program in schools, occupations, home and public.
Course Objectives: The purpose of this course is to examine current trends and techniques in safety program management with strong emphasis in the industrial arena. The challenge will be to critically evaluate the various methods of safety program management and the elements involved and to apply them to individual / vocational needs.

* Written Assignments: A term paper of sufficient quality and quantity to convey a broad understanding of the chosen topic. The topic is to be selected from topics listed in the course outline. (Or related safety topics as approved by the instructor)
** Oral Presentation: A 10 minute oral presentation summarizing the term paper is required. Time will be allotted later in the semester to allow for all presentations. The presentations should adequately reflect the content of the term paper and be presented in a professional manner. Visual aids are strongly suggested to support the presentation. A schedule for these presentations will follow.
*** Course Exams: Quizzes (no more than 3) may be given during the course covering either lecture material, textbook material, or both. Lecture material will not always follow the course outline. A final exam will not be given. Absences from quizzes will be accepted if accompanied with a physician’s statement. A make up quiz will be offered with different content in such excused absences.
Attendance Policy: Unexcused absences of more than two (2) sessions may result in lowering of the final course grade.
