TE 698: COMPREHENSIVE PROJECT FORMULATION

COURSE DESCRIPTION:      This course is intended to aid the student in preparing for TE 699, Comprehensive Project.  The course includes some instruction in technical writing and orientation to library resources, especially online databases, with the aid of library personnel.  All students in the course will be required to complete and obtain advisor approval of their Comprehensive Project proposals.  Students also will make presentations of their proposals to the rest of the class and/or additional other sections of TE 698.  SEMESTER CREDIT HOURS: 3; PREREQUISITES:  None

 

EXPECTATIONS and GRADING:  To receive a “Satisfactory” grade for the course, students must:

 

·        Attend all required meetings

·        Complete all assignments

·        Complete Comprehensive Project Proposal by March 17, 2003

·        Obtain advisor approval of Comprehensive Project Proposal by April 18, 2003

·        Make final presentation of Comprehensive Project Proposal

 

Upon successful completion of TE 698, students will have the ability to register for

TE 699 and complete work on their Comprehensive Project reports.

First Session               Course Orientation

 

Second Session            Library database searching demonstration (to be completed by end of January)

 

Third Session             Writing Instruction and Exercises

 

Fourth Session            Writing Instruction and Exercises

 

Fifth Session               Writing Instruction and Exercises (to be completed by late February)

 

Final Session              Class presentation of proposals

 

Throughout the semester, students will work individually with their own academic

advisors to develop and obtain approval of the Comprehensive Project Proposal, in

accordance with CITE guidelines.
